What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymised string created from your e-mail address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service Privacy Policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Contact forms

Any information that you supply to us is only used by us for the purposes of providing you information related to the purpose of your contact. We do not share such information with any third party.

Your contact information

All of your contact information that you send to us will be kept securely and not shared with any other party. If you sign up to our newsletter via MailChimp your information may be stored on their servers, If you use our e-Store (WooCommerce), only the following data is stored https://woocommerce.com/usage-tracking/

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt in to saving your name, e-mail address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year. You will be notified about our use and storage of cookies when you open our site for the first time or when your browser cache has been cleared. If you block all cookies, you will see the notice each time.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

We may use analytics to anonymously track traffic to our e-store and through the checkout process, no personal data is shared in doing this, and any data you supply via our e-store is not shared by any third party.

Who we share your data with

We don’t, and we won’t. If it’s data we collect, and not captured by other websites or services that might be intergrated with this one, we won’t use your data for anything except the running of this site, for sending you things you purchase via our e-shop, and sending you occasional emails about what we’re up to, if you choose to opt-in to our mailing list.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where we send your data

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service. If you use our contact form, it is secured against malicious use by Google’s ReCAPTCHA v3 service.
